A Spiritual Tool - Creating A Tithe Account
Giving changes the world, both the outer and the innerAlmost every spiritual and religious teaching urges its followers to donate a portion of their income to the support of the community and the common good. This is a way of ensuring the community's ability to care for its own. And it allows the tither to express gratitude for their own success. Each religion and sect has its own idea of what constitutes a proper tithe (10% of the participant's earnings is the typcal amount). The concept of tithing is a long-standing tradition - one that each of us should consider adding to our lives.Giving "cleans out the pipes" of energy flow. Thus more can flow through. It helps us realize our own abundance in the midst of our fears of scarcity. When we give, we discover we have enough to give. We see the true nature and scope of our own blessings by recognizing that we had that amount to give, over and above what we required for ourselves. But what if you are someone who is "spiritual," but belongs to no particular religion? Or perhaps you subscribe to a particular religious tenet but, for whatever reason, attend no church or temple? How can you reap the benefits of tithing? A possibility is the creation of a tithe account. This idea is simple. Create a checking account, separate from any you may already have. Into this account, regularly and promptly deposit the amount you have settled on as an appropriate tithe. Base the value on your beliefs and your income. Keep this account sacred. Do not touch it for your own use under any, but the direst circumstances - such as an immediate and life-threatening situation... Carry the tithing checkbook with you at all times. Whenever you come across a "good cause" or a way in which you can help, you are prepared to respond. See how easily and quickly you can support your community and those in need? You may feel that anonymity is vital to such gifts. Have your checks printed up with only your initials! What are some appropriate ways to use this account - this spiritual tool? Basically, when you see a need that you can help with, go for it. Buying a gift certificate to the local tire center can safeguard the young mother in accounting and her baby who are riding on dangerously bald tires. Drop a check into the local firehouse fundraiser to buy a new truck. Donate to all those charities you "never had money for" before. Commit a string of random acts of kindness and senseless beauty. Play the free-ranging and anonymous crusader for good, wielding your pen and checkbook like a staff of kindness and charity. This is fun! Her name is Lexie (short for Alexa) and I call her my "grand-puppy. It seems most of our actions are rooted in and motivated by our desire to either gain significance or maintain the significance we believe we've achieved. I believe that if you take a hard look at what motivates the majority of your actions you'll begin to see that this is true. You want to feel like you count. You want it to matter that you're around. How to Test the Spirits There is a specific technique that a Shaman uses to determine if spirits, guides, entities, beings that visit him or her are beneficial or not. It is an ancient technique that has been around as long as Shamanism has been around. It was written in Egyptian papyrus scrolls. It is found in the Book of Thoth, another ancient manuscript. It is found in the Bible. Accessing Your Spiritual Guidance For the last 35 years, I have been working with individuals, couples and families, as well as business relationships. I have 8 published books on relationships and healing, some of them best-sellers. In the first half of my career, I worked as a traditional psychotherapist, and was not happy with the results. In the last 18 years I have worked with a process called Inner Bonding, which is a powerful six step psychological and spiritual healing process. I discovered that there is no real healing without a personal connection with a source of spiritual guidance. Do Not Believe In God God poetry is one of my favorite genres, although I have to confess to being an atheist. Why does an atheist write about God? Because the idea of God is an important one. And the experience of "God" can be life changing - more so than mere belief. That is the point of this first poem.
