Working Christian Mom, The Roles I Play
What role am I playing now...I still remember the scene vividly. I was getting out of my car at the baby-sitter's house and a little boy comes running out the door. The little boys begins to yell - "Renee's Mommy is here!" I remember stopping in my tracks and thinking - "Oh, that is who I am now - Renee's Mommy." My whole identity is now Renee's Mommy - or is it?As a Christian Working Mom I have multiple roles, I am Renee's Mommy and Zachary's Mommy as well. I am John's wife, Betty and Eldred's daughter, Karen's sister, church worker, school helper, a therapist, professional coach, and a child of God. Do you often wonder who you are? Where do you fit in with all your roles? Women have had many roles since time began. The Proverbs 31 woman is a: wife, mother, businesswoman, charity worker, and many other roles. You will recognize, in here, some of the stresses we modern women face. Proverbs 31:15, 18 states: "she gets up while it is still dark and her lamp does not go out at night." Does that sound familiar? We are often burning the candle at both ends. As a fellow Christian Working Mom, I celebrate and applaud all our different roles. Variety in our roles often allows us to manage turmoil in any one area of our lives. The other parts of our lives seem to compensate for the difficult times and help us to maintain balance. Take a look at Romans 15:1 it says We who are strong ought to bear with the fallings of the weak and not please ourselves. Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me. For everything that was written in the past was written to teach, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Servants of the Antichrist The "Left Behind" series is inspiring, in that it makes people think about serious, life-and-death situations. Yet it tends to assume that, even in the face of disaster, life for fundamentalist American Christians will center around the same values and goals that have dominated their lives up until now. In other words, people will still go to church on Sundays and work in system jobs the rest of the week, right through the Tribulation and all that comes with it. They will still be loaded with money, and they will still jet around the world at will. There is nothing in the book that speaks to the condition of poor Christians. This materialistic philosophy is practised at a time (in the story) when people should be seriously considering whether the values they lived by before the trouble began were really the right ones. Passions of the Heart! There are no better people to be around than those who have a zest for life and a joy in their hearts. Few as there may be, when you meet one you just know it. There's something about them that draws you inward, some call it a persons, "Persona", I believe God would call it your, "Passion." Some say you are just born with that inner balance and security that is so magnetic. Chronic Illness: The Enemy Within There once was a man who wanted to teach himself how to sky dive? They teach, raise our awareness and question what we know by their very existence. These three essences are even more remarkable because they are channelled essences. "Oh boy, this is a hard one to swallow" I hear you say. Just have an open mind and read on.
