I never thought I would feel this way, considering the fact that I spent two years of my life, dedicated to becoming a priest. The contents of this book, however, made that journey only a memory for me. Its words are utterly condemning in many places, and I can not accept the elitist attitude they convey. The Catechism stresses that God is not a distant entity, yet God is distant from its pages. It is not a work of the Holy Spirit, it is the work of men who believe they are right and others are wrong. They take advantage of the human need for something to believe in past this life. We are all vulnerable, and if religious leaders told us that caffeine was sinfull, then we would fear it. The bigshots who came up with this Catechism over the last 2000 years have caused so many predjudices and injustices and bigotry that one can not accept their insecurity. If you want an ego boost; if you want to feel like you are a better person than 90% of the world, then read this book.

Unbelievable. As a lifetime Catholic for 43+ years and just made my spouse recently convert, I wanted to purchase a book that can tell us about the Roman Catholic faith in simple words. Unfortunately, this book is a huge turnoff and extremely difficult to read and comprehend. I do not think I can find any text in this book that I can understand. I would strongly advise purchasing this ‘informative’ book on the Catholic Church. I wish I can find a book that is more to my liking.

Want to learn about The Most Significant Event in the Catholic Church in the past several hundred years; Vatican Two? Get another book. The Cathechism of the Catholic Church doesnt even footnote this monumental change.

Extremely difficult to read. This is a reference book…a dictionary where nearly every sentence contains arcane, codified words or phrases. I bought it for my children and hid it in embarrassment for my church leadership.

The high-brow, cluttered editorial style of this book is regretable and very off-putting. My wife joked it was ghost written by William F. Buckley on double martinis.

There is no author listed. I dont wonder why.

I have this Green Catechism book and it really is not bad at all but read it so you can get a great picture as to what the Church says but always place more trust to the King James Version Bible, and Follow Christ. Christ is God!

I give this book 5 stars because it is, hands down, the best tool for a fundamentalist Christian soul winner to use when dealing with Roman Catholic laypeople. This way, you aren’t arguing with Karl Keating or Paul Kreeft or some other “unofficial” apologist for Rome– you are taking your views of Roman dogma straight from the top!

Do you meet someone door-to-door who says Catholics don’t believe in salvation by works? Take them STRAIGHT to the CATECHISM! Or how about the Church’s position on Mariolatry? Forget the Protestant tracts and go to the CATECHISM! I could go on, but you get the picture. Suffice it to say that every humble Bible-believer should own a copy. (Just do your conscience a favor and try to find it used.)
