Historians have long known that Jesus Christ must have been born between 1 and 4 BC.
At the top of the list of astrological meanings for Mercury is the word communication. And the planet that relates most strongly to spiritual matters is Neptune. The angular relationship between these two planets indicates to astrologers the ability to speak comfortably and persuasively about spiritual matters.
Astronomer, Dave Reneke's research points to 17 June 2 BC as being the most likely date of the birth of Jesus, as the planets Venus and Jupiter were in the same location in the night sky and produced the effect of an unusually bright, slow-moving star.
The belief in astrology was prevalent and accepted after centuries of observation. From their astrological perspective the conjunction of these particular planets indicated an event of extreme positivity. It would have provided enough motivation to seek out a child born at this time.
Research has indicated that the planet Jupiter, from an astrological perspective, is the planet that is most strongly aligned with Christianity. On 17 June 2 BC the planet Jupiter (in Leo) was in exact alignment with Venus and in a very positive angular relationship with the Moon (in Sagittarius).
The sign of Cancer relates to care and nurturing, especially of children. The position of Mercury in Cancer suggests a person that could speak lovingly to children as well as reminding people of the importance to love children.
