The Importance of Dying Moments in Hindu Theology

Hindu dying

The moments before death hold a lot of spiritual significance in the beliefs of Hinduism. Unlike some other religions, the profession of faith in the divinity of any particular religious figure is not sufficient for salvation in Hinduism. Rather, it is one's own actions, done throughout one's lifetime, which decide upon the destiny of the soul, once it departs from the physical body.

Since Hindus firmly believe in reincarnation, it is a question of whether the departed soul, after death, is fit for salvation; or whether the soul needs to reincarnate again.

And, if the soul needs to reincarnate, what would be the characteristics of the next life? Will the person be reborn rich or poor? Will the person be reborn as an animal - or will the person be reborn as a human?

Hindu theology answers some of these questions, based on the actions that one does at the time of death.

If we are told that some tsunami is about to wash away our house and our belongings, we tend to immediately think about things that are valuable to us. We would take hold of all those things that are dear to us and then run away to some safer place.

Something similar takes place at the time of death. As soon as a person understands that he or she is about to die, her thoughts tend to switch on to things that she has held valuable throughout her lifetime. If the person A has become possessively attached to another loved and dear relative of his by name B, chances are that A would think of that loved and dear person B at the time of death.

And, as per this theology, A would most likely be reborn under circumstances that would reunite her with the loved person B in the next life. However, if the person A has been obsessed with hatred and ill will toward person B, chances are that A would remember B with feelings of hatred and ill will at the time of A's death. This would unfortunately affect the circumstances under which A would be reborn. A may be reborn under circumstances that could lead him to be the murderer of B in the next life. This would set a wheel of karma into action, where A and B would become bitter antagonists of each other for several lives, continuously.

In order to avoid such unfortunate circumstances, one is always advised to remain tranquil without holding any excessive animosity against any one. The best course of action would be to concentrate on the divine and be all the time immersed in devotional service to God.

Once a person does this through her lifetime, she is likely to remember God at the time of death. As per Hindu theology, such a person who remembers God at the time of death will have no rebirth, but will attain the permanent abode of God.

The Virgin Mary has long been the object of both devotional and scholarly interest, and recent years have seen a proliferation of studies on Hindu goddess-worship traditions. Despite the parallels between the two, however, no one has yet undertaken a book-length comparison of these traditions. In Divine Mother, Blessed Mother, Francis Clooney offers the first extended comparative study of Hindu goddesses and the Virgin Mary. Clooney is almost unique in the field of Hindu studies as a Christian theologian with the linguistic and philosophical expertise necessary to produce sophisticated comparative analyses. Building on his previous work in comparative theology, he sheds new light not only on these individual traditions but also on the nature of gender and the divine.

Law Of Attraction Relationships: How To Access The Mode Of Allowance
Aug 16th, 2010 by admin

Law of Attraction Relationships

Nanette Geiger, Law of Attraction Relationships Coach , writes...

If I told you a really easy method to be in alignment with your desire, would you take it into practice?

The moment you accept your current circumstances, EXACTLY as they appear with no need to change a thing for you to feel good, then you are in the allowing mode.

Anything you think you want, is so you'll experience an emotion you hope will come once you get what you desire.

You want money. What life will that get you?

You want prestige. What emotional response will that bring you?

You want unhindered romantic love. What changes will that carry to your life?

You want physical well-being. What experience will that carry to you?

Head right to that emotional response. When you do this you're in energetic alignment with your wants. Stay there several times a day and you will be attracting the things you desire.

If you are complaining about your circumstances, how insufficient your career is, how you despise being single, how terrible the economy is, you are disallowing peace from flowing into your life. If you need the help of a Law of Attraction Coach, by all means go get support! Having an unbiased listener to check in with can help you move off old patterns much more quickly.

Your vibration doesn't have to be just resistant in the topic of financial prosperity to be resisting wealth. Resistance in general is resistance. If you complain all the time, if you criticize, look for fault and judge ANYTHING you are resistant to your desires. Start empowering yourself right now and experience Law of Attraction Love.

Make peace with your life exactly as it is right now. Practice appreciate what you have as often as you can as many times a day as you remember. Let go of the 'how' and 'when' it needs to appear. Do not burden the Universe by telling it how your life is going to happen. Your only job is to be in the mode of receiving what you want by practicing experiencing goodness and allowing it in.

It's not your fault that you've learned to expect little, experience anxiety, or a critical nature. After all, didn't we learn, "the squeaky wheel gets the oil?" We all picked up these habits of thinking from our childhood. It is not your fault, but it is on you to morph your habits if you no longer want to take what is handed to you. Find out how to choose your thoughts and emotions with intention. Then you will be a creator of your own life instead of a victim of circumstances.

There is not a thing wrong with desiring fulfillment in any and all areas of life. Pay attention to the internal dialogue you have about your self-worth, or the likelihood of your wants being filled and just continue choosing a more empowering inner conversation. Life is supposed to be good and you are worth it. The power really is in your hands.
