A big part of manifesting are confidence and positive thinking, as they are for many areas of life. Knowing what you want in your mind is not enough; it must be followed by a gut level belief that you can achieve any goal. Personal or professional it does not matter; the idea is to believe you can have whatever you set your mind towards. Would you like to make this easier on yourself? Keep out the negative thought processes, accentuate the positive and completely forget the negative! Concentrating on where you have missed the mark or been defeated is counterproductive to success. Ideology, values, morality, rules, experiences, and good works give the blueprint to ensure the expansion of the religious being.  In Psychology, realizing ones total potential is to self-actualize.  Maslow defined several human wants : physiological, security, belongingness, esteem, cognitive, classy, self-actualization, and self-transcendence.  James earlier categorized these needs into three : material, emotional, and religious.  When you have satisfied the basic physical and emotional needs, spiritual or existential wants come next.  Achieving each need leads to the total development of the individual.  Maybe the difference between these two faiths and psychology is the end of self-development : Christianity and Islam see that self-assessment is a means to serving God, while psychology view that self-development is an end on it's own.

Religions that believe in the being of Our Lord God such as Christianism, Judaism, and Islam suspect that the point of the human life is to serve the Creator of everything.  Many theories in psychology propose that we eventually give significance to our lives.  Whether we think that lifes meaning is pre-determined or self-directed, to grow in spirit is to realize that we don't just exist.  We donot know the goal of our lives at birth ; but we discover data and truth from our interaction with folks and from our actions and reactions to the situations we are in.  As we discover this meaning, there are certain beliefs and values that we reject and attest.  Our lives have purpose.  This purpose puts all our physical, emotional, and intellectual potentials into use ; supports us during trying times ; and provides us something to look forward to---a goal to realize, a destination to reach.  An individual without purpose or meaning is likea drifting ship at sea. 

To grow spiritually is to realize connections. 

Faiths stress the idea of our relatedness to all living things, live and inanimate.  Thus we call other folks brothers and sisters even if there are no direct blood relations.  Likewise, deity-centered religions such as Christianity and Islam speak of the relationship between humans and a higher person.  On the other hand, science expounds on our link to other living entities through the evolution idea.  This relatedness is obviously seen in the theorem of ecology, the interaction between living and non-living things.  In psychology, connectedness is a tendency of self-transcendence, the greatest human need according to Maslow.  Recognizing your connection to all things makes you more humble and respectful of people, animals, plants, and things in nature.  It has you appreciate everything around you.  It moves you to go beyond your comfort zone and reach out to other folk, and become stewards of all of the things around you. 

Expansion is a process thus to grow in spirit is a day by day encounter.  We win some, we lose some, but the most important thing is that we learn, and from this knowledge, further non secular growth is formed possible.
